Artist Statement

My work is deeply rooted in personal history and cultural identity. I explore the duality of my existence through family photographs that guide my compositions-- anchoring my imagery in lived experiences. Through uncanny imagery, I seek to reinterpret the photos and capture the tension between my roles as an artist and educator. My work serves as a visual dialogue, questioning and celebrating what it means to be an artist, teacher, and woman carrying cultural expectations. Ultimately, my work explores memory, identity, and the spaces we inhabit-- channeling stories and objects passed through generations.
